The peristylum was a colonnaded portico that surrounded the central garden of the villa (viridarium).
The mosaic from the peristyle is of geometric design, in black-and-white.
It is well known the taste that Romans had for fountains, jets of water and pools. Consequently, even though there is no evidence from Torre Llauder, a small marble fountain has been assumed to have been placed in the middle of the garden.
The peristyle from Torre Llauder could have also served as a place to exercise before taking a bath.
The peristyle created a micro-cosmos at the centre of the villa, whereby its inhabitants could enjoy nature while still live in seclusion from the outside world.
